DC vs GT, ipl 2026: In yesterday’s very exciting match between Delhi vs Gujarat, Delhi Capitals needed only two runs in the last two balls to win. But at this juncture the match took a turn which surprised everyone. Batsman David Miller refused to take a run on the fifth ball. His decision certainly seemed shocking at that time, but showing confidence in himself, he decided to play the last ball. However, he missed the shot on the last ball and when he tried to take a run, Kuldeep Yadav was run out on an accurate throw by Jos Buttler. With this, victory slipped from Delhi’s hands.
Gavaskar’s big statement: “It is wrong to doubt intentions”
Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar reacted to this entire incident and defended Miller. He said that Miller was batting brilliantly and he was confident that he could finish the match. Gavaskar clearly said that in such a situation it is not right to question the intentions of the player. He also said that Prasidh Krishna bowled a brilliant slow bouncer, which Miller could not understand and this became the turning point of the match.
Decisions under pressure decide the match
Gavaskar said that in such high-pressure moments, it is very important to understand the match situation properly. On this occasion, he gave the example of former Indian coach Ravi Shastri. Referring to India vs Australia 1986 Chennai Test, Gavaskar said that India had got the target of 348 runs in that match. Ravi Shastri showed wisdom and took a run at the right time and leveled the score. Although Maninder Singh was out on the last ball, the match was tied – one of the most memorable matches in cricket history.
One decision, many questions
This match again proved that even a small decision in cricket can change the course of the entire match. Whether Miller’s decision was right or wrong will continue to be debated, but Gavaskar’s point is clear: focus should be on circumstances, not intentions.
