In the world of UPSC, stories of struggle and success are often heard, but such a news has come out from Jalna district of Maharashtra which has won everyone’s heart. This is the story of IAS Anjali Sharma and her husband IAS Krishnakant Kanwaria, whose love not only crossed the boundaries but also bridged the distance of 1300 kilometers. Now this famous pair will stay in the same district and take over the reins of governance.

Government gave command of Jalna: Wife will take care of the city while husband will take care of the village.

The Maharashtra government has recently made a major reshuffle in the administrative corridors. In the transfers of 25 IAS officers that took place on April 2, 2026, this power couple has been posted together in Jalna district. 2022 batch officer Anjali Sharma has been made the Municipal Commissioner of Jalna Municipal Corporation, while her husband Krishnakant Kanwaria has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jalna Zilla Parishad. Now, while the wife will draw the blueprint for the development of the city, the responsibility of changing the picture of the villages of the district will be on the shoulders of the husband.

The journey of love started from training in Mussoorie

The love story of these two officers is very interesting. Both Krishnakant and Anjali are officers of the same batch. They had passed the Civil Services Examination of the year 2021 together. While Krishnakant secured 382nd rank in his fourth attempt, Anjali surprised everyone by securing 450th rank in her very first attempt. The two became friends during their training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, which gradually turned into love.

Cadre was 1300 KM away, left the state for love

After the success, when the cadre allocation took place, fate took away both of them. Krishnakant got Jharkhand cadre and Anjali got Maharashtra. There was a distance of about 1300 kilometers between the two. But after marriage, Krishnakant left his Jharkhand cadre in January 2026 to live with his wife and came to Maharashtra by taking inter-cadre transfer.

Unique confluence of Rajasthan and Bihar

This IAS couple belongs to different states. Krishnakant Kanwaria is a resident of Nagaur district (Kuchaman city) of Rajasthan. On the other hand, Anjali Sharma is a resident of Morwa block of Samastipur district of Bihar. The special thing is that Anjali had also passed the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination before UPSC and she had also served as Rural Development Officer (RDO). Now this pair is ready to take the development of Jalna district to new heights with their administrative acumen.
