The Gujarat Titans have defeated the Delhi Capitals by just a single run in what was their second thriller in a row in IPL 2026.

This DC vs GT game was match 14 of the 2026 Indian Premier League. The home side won the coin toss and decided to bowl first on a pitch that seemed conducive to batting.

Gujarat Titans Beat Delhi Capitals In A Thriller

It was the usual duo of Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill that opened the innings for the Titans today. Sudharsan, who has been in fine form this season so far, was dismissed early today, bowled by Mukesh Kumar in the third over.

The rest of the powerplay, however, sailed off smoothly for the away team, as at the sixth over mark, they were cruising at 68/1. This was down to a solid performance by Jos Buttler. The Englishman reached his half-century soon after the powerplay, reaching the milestone in 24 balls.

Buttler was dismissed in the eighth over by opposition captain Axar Patel. By this point, Gill had been taking this time, playing at 13 off 12. After this wicket, the skipper decided to charge.

The next couple of overs were a little slow. At the 10th over mark, GT were batting at 101/2. But then, Gill and Washington Sudar on the other end decided to pick the pace up and started scoring some much-needed boundaries.

The 12th over, bowled by Vipraj Nigam, went for 23 runs, with Sundar hitting two boundaries and a six while Shubman hit a maximum as well.

Shubmna Gill scored a 50 today, which comes as a relief after he missed the last game against the Rajasthan Royals. He reached his half-century in 33 balls. He would go on to make 70 off 45 before getting out in the 18th over. At the end of that over, Gujarat’s score was 185/3.

Sundar scored the third GT half-century of the day. He made his 50 in 30 balls. His wicket in the 20th over for 55 off 32 came amidst a couple of boundaries hit by Glenn Phillips in the final over to finish the innings strong at 210/4.

The Delhi Capitals responded with a brilliant opening partnership between KL Rahul and Payhum Nissanka. The two got together to make 63 runs in the powerplay and had a 76-run opening stand, which ended with Nissanka’s dismissal in the ninth over for 31 off 26.

Rahul responded in the same over with two 4s and two 6s to reach his half-century in 29 deliveries. However, in the 10th over, the Capitals started to lose the plot a little, as the wickets of Nitish Rana and the in-form Sameer Rizvi fell on consecutive balls, with Rizvi being bowled by Rashid Khan for a golden duck.

Axar Patel had come to strike after David Miller, playing at 12 off 10, was retired hurt in the 13th over after suffering a finger injury. The captain too didn’t make much of a mark with the bat in this match, making only two runs before becoming Rashid’s third wicket of the day.

While wickets kept falling on one end, Rahul kept making runs on the other. The wicketkeeper/batter went on to make 92 off 52 before he was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj in the 17th over. Earlier in that over, Tristan Stubbs was run out after making just seven runs.

By this point, Miller had returned to strike and started dealing in boundaries. At the end of the 18th over, with Miller and Vipraj Nigam on strike, DC were at 175/6, needing 36 runs in two overs.

The 19th over by Siraj went for 23 runs. Miller hit him for a 4 and two 6s. Even Nigam joined the party with a boundary. This left only 13 runs to be defended in the last over by Prasidh Krishna; GT was going to play yet another thriller.

The first ball of the over was hit for a four by Nigam. On the second, Vipraj, looking for another boundary, skies the ball and is caught. Then, Kuldeep Yadav took a single on the third.

Now, eight runs were required in three deliveries, and David Miller launched the ball into the stands with only two runs now required on as many deliveries.

The penultimate ball of the over saw Miller pull to square leg, but deciding not to take any runs, leaving two to be made off the final ball. The last ball by Krishna was a slower short ball, which Miller tried to pull but missed. The two batters ran, but Kuldeep was run out on the striker’s end.

DC decided to review the delivery for a wide, but it was not given; the Titans had won this match by one run.

For his excellent spell of 3/17, with which he dismantled the DC middle-order, Rashid Khan was named the Player of the Match.

With their thrilling win in the DC vs GT match, the Gujarat Titans now have 2 wins and 1 loss in IPL 2026 and stand 6th on the points table. Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals, after suffering their first defeat in three games, sit fourth in the league.
