New Delhi: The weather patterns across most parts of India appear to be undergoing significant shifts these days. In several regions of North India, late-night rainfall has caused temperatures to drop, offering residents much-needed relief from the scorching heat. However, strong winds have caused substantial damage to farmers’ wheat crops, a situation that could potentially impact overall agricultural production.
Clouds continue to hover over the national capital, Delhi, as well as the Delhi-NCR region and parts of Western Uttar Pradesh. In Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, intermittent winds accompanied by drizzle persisted in several locations, bringing relief from the intense heat. With the activation of a Western Disturbance, heavy rainfall and hailstorms are anticipated in various parts of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, a ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for Delhi and the Delhi-NCR region. During this period, warnings have been issued regarding strong winds, overcast skies, rain, and hailstorms. There is a possibility of one or two spells of rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
The skies are expected to remain partly cloudy on April 9 as well. However, the Meteorological Department forecasts that the weather is likely to clear up on April 10 and 11. The maximum temperature is expected to reach between 33 and 34 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for moderate rainfall accompanied by overcast skies across various areas within the Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Udaipur, and Kota divisions of Rajasthan. Parts of the Jaipur and Shekhawati regions could record rainfall ranging from 30 to 50 millimeters.
There is a possibility of hailstorms occurring in various parts of the state. Light rainfall is expected in the northern parts of the Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions. An alert has been issued indicating that some areas will remain dry for the 4–5 days following April 9, and temperatures are expected to rise by 3–4 degrees Celsius starting from April 10.

According to the IMD (India Meteorological Department), a warning has been issued for several districts of Madhya Pradesh regarding thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. As per the IMD, showers are likely in the districts of Vidisha, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Agar, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena, and Sheopur.
In addition to these, intense rainfall may be witnessed in the districts of Singrauli, Sidhi, Rewa, Mauganj, Satna, Panna, Damoh, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, and Niwari. The districts of Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, and Morena are expected to experience thunderstorms accompanied by hailstorms and strong winds.
According to the Meteorological Department, a warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for April 8 and 9 in the districts of Agra, Mathura, Saharanpur, Hapur, Muzaffarnagar, and Jyotiba Phule Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. Furthermore, an alert for moderate to heavy rainfall has been issued for Bareilly, Sambhal, Bulandshahr, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Moradabad, Sitapur, Barabanki, Lucknow, Kannauj, Fatehpur, Kanpur, Pratapgarh, and Banda.
According to the IMD, spells of rain are likely to be recorded in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gaya, Jehanabad, Patna, Nalanda, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, and Samastipur. The IMD has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnia, Kishanganj, Saharsa, Araria, and Katihar. Winds with speeds reaching up to 60 kilometers per hour are also expected in these areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is likely in the districts of Nainital, Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Pauri Garhwal, and Champawat. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall in Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Tehri Garhwal. It has also indicated the possibility of winds blowing at speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour.
