The court scheduled the next hearing of the case for April 28.
New Delhi. The Central Government told the Supreme Court that all issues to installation of CCTV cameras in police stations across the country will be resolved within two weeks. Attorney General R. Venkataramani told a bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta that he was reviewing the issue and several steps were being taken in this direction.
The Union Home Secretary also appeared in the court. The Supreme Court, in an order on April 6, had asked him to appear in the court on Tuesday so that proper assistance could be taken from him in the implementation of the plan to install CCTV cameras in police stations.
The country’s top law officer told the bench that within two weeks he would ensure that all issues are resolved, for which regular meetings would be held with the amicus curiae and other officials.
The bench has scheduled the next hearing of the case for April 28. The Supreme Court is hearing the case by taking suo motu cognizance of the lack of functional CCTV cameras in the police stations.
