On April 7, Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians did not get to play all the overs as most of the play was washed out due to rain. The toss was done at 9:55 pm. And both teams had to play 11 overs each to get a conclusion.

Knowing the shortened tenure, Rajasthan Royals batters went gaga, raining boundaries after being sent to bat first. Coming to chase, Mumbai Indians batter could not settle at all. RR was top-notch when it came to fielding, taking catches, and hitting stumps. With this, RR defeated MI by 27 runs, maintaining their undefeated streak in the 2026 Indian Premier League.

Yasasvi Jaiswal- Vaibhav Sooryavanshi rode RR to 150

Rajasthan Royals rode on a blistering unbeaten 77 from Yashasvi Jaiswal to post 150/3 in their reduced 11-over innings before restricting Mumbai Indians to 123/9 for a 27-run victory at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

Jaiswal’s 32-ball knock, studded with 10 fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 240.62, anchored the innings from start to finish. He found an ideal aggressor at the other end in Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who smashed 39 off just 14 balls with five sixes as the pair added 80 for the opening wicket in only 4.6 overs. After the quick dismissals of Dhruv Jurel (2) and Riyan Parag (20), Jaiswal carried the innings deep to ensure Royals crossed the 150 mark, finishing with a run rate of 13.63. For Mumbai, AM Ghazanfar returned 2/21, while Shardul Thakur claimed 1/36.

MI collapse derails chase despite late Rutherford cameo

Chasing 151 in 11 overs, Mumbai Indians lost wickets at regular intervals and never recovered from an early collapse. Ryan Rickelton, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav were all back inside the first two overs, leaving the side at 20/2 before slipping to 46/5 by the end of the fifth over.

Tilak Varma made 14, while Hardik Pandya managed 9, but neither could stabilise the innings. Naman Dhir’s 25 off 13 briefly kept the asking rate in sight before Sherfane Rutherford injected momentum with a rapid 25 off eight balls, striking at 312.50. However, his dismissal at 93 in the eighth over ended the chase’s last real threat.

Rajasthan’s bowling unit shared the load effectively. Nandre Burger and Ravi Bishnoi picked up two wickets each, while Sandeep Sharma’s 2/26 in three overs included the key scalp of Rohit. Mumbai eventually closed at 123/9, falling 27 runs short despite reaching 100 in 8.4 overs.
