An expert has said there is a chance for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to be welcomed back into the Royal Family's fold but she warned it could take years. US political commentator Hilary Fordwich speculated on the situation while appearing on Mark Dolan's TalkTV show when she was asked if there was any way back for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Reflecting on the question she said they need to completely change their modus operandi and dedicate themselves to public service. "There's a yes, no answer - 100% no, definitely no if they continue doing what they've been doing and continuing down this track. They cannot throw the royal family under the proverbial royal bus. They cannot bad mouth the royal family. They cannot do all that they've done....I think it's actually too late to ever gain trust. It's like saying to someone, love me, love me. No, you have to have them love you. You have to prove that you're trustworthy. So that's all destroyed," she said.

However she indicated a huge lifestyle change could see attitudes towards them thaw - although she said it won't be a speedy process.

"If they move to Africa, and they actually dedicated themselves for a number of years to the local community, and they actually did do some good...

"If they actually did want privacy for their children, and Meghan stopped putting them over Instagram and promoting them and using them," she said.

"If they stopped being hypocritical, and they stopped being critical of the Royal Family and they did that for many years, many years, I do think there would be some admiration for what they had done that was right" she said dashing hopes they may be welcomed back in the foreseeable future.

"So it's do unto others, as I would be done by. Serve others. And you might be accepted back. But I think the trust is really gone," she said.

Her remarks came as Harry is due to return to the UK in early Julyto mark the one-year countdown for the Invictus Games, to be held in Birmingham in July 2027. He will also be carrying out an engagement linked to the WellChild charity, of which he has been patron since 2007.

The prince is reportedly hopeful of bringing his children back to the UK with him to see their grandfather King Charlesbut with one caveat.

Reports recently claimed the Duke wants to bring his wife, Meghan, and two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to spend "family time" in England, but only if security is provided.
