New Delhi: Rain washed off Kolkata Knight Riders’ home IPL 2026 game against Punjab Kings after action halted at 3.4 overs never to resume on Monday.

Both teams shared points, gifting KKR their first point after two defeats while Punjab went to the top of the standings with five points from three matches.

KKR won the toss and decided to bat, having benched struggling spin duo of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy, but were reduced to 16 for two in two overs.

Xavier Bartlett dismissed Finn Allen (6) and Cameron Green (4) in similar fashion of caught behind two outswing deliveries in the space of three balls.

It was yet another failure for Green, the highest-paid overseas player at Rs 25.20 crore, who scored 18 (against Mumbai Indians) and two (Sunrisers Hyderabad) as KKR lost both matches.

KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane (8 not out) and keeper-batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi (7 not out) were at the crease when rain intevened at halted proceedings with the score at 25 for two.

The Eden Gardens groundstaff quickly covered the entire field and though hopes of action brightened when the covers began to come off briefly, thunderstrom and lightning accompanied by consistent downpour put paid to any hopes of resumption of play.
