New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli broke Rohit Sharma’s record of scoring the most runs against one IPL team during the clash againstChennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, April 5.

Rohit has scored 1161 runs in 36 IPL matches against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), while Kohli now has 1162 runs in 36 IPL matches against Chennai Super Kings. He needed just 16 runs to reach the milestone ahead of the clash against CSK and achieved the feat in the fourth over, bowled by Matt Henry.

Kohli scored 28 runs off 18 balls and was removed by Anshul Kamboj in the fifth over. He bowled a short length delivery after seeing Kohli coming down the track and got the extra bounce from the surface. The RCB batter wasn’t in a good position to play a pull shot, and the ball hit high on the bat, and Dube took a good catch at mid-on.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the toss and opted to bowl first. The visitors made one change to their playing XI with Jamie Overton replacing Rahul Chahar, while the hosts have named an unchanged team.

RCB have won their opening match of the tournament against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 6 wickets, while CSK have suffered defeat in two consecutive matches, losing against Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings.
