Delhi Capitals beat Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets in Match 8 of IPL 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Batting to chase 163 for victory, DC romped home in 18.1 overs owing to a spectacular 90-run knock from Sameer Rizvi. The MI innings saw Suryakumar Yadav struck a steady half-century and put on 162/6 before Rizvi tore them apart. An important win for DC against MI who have troubled them in recent years.

Mumbai Indians Innings: Suryakumar Anchors but MI Fall Short

It was a mixed bag of start to the Mumbai innings as they were invited to bat first. While Ryan Rickelton managed only nine and Tilak Varma failed to score on three balls, Rohit Sharma looked in the groove with 35 from 26 deliveries which included 5 boundaries and a maximum, before being undone in the 10th over.

Suryakumar Yadav held the innings together with a fluent 51 off 36 balls, but lacked support at the other end and struck small partnerships without a truly solid contribution. Sherfane Rutherford (5) and useful contributions from Naman Dhir (28) in the latter stages guided the score. Mitchell Santner (18) and Corbin Bosch (11) ensured MI posted 162/6 from 20 overs. For the Delhi Capitals, it was Mukesh Kumar who stood out with 2 wickets, along with one each from Axar Patel, Ngidi, Natarajan and Vipraj Nigam.

Delhi Capitals Chase: Sameer Rizvi Leads From the Front

Delhi Capitals failed to build momentum initially, losing KL Rahul (1) in the very first over and the dismissal of Nitish Rana via a run-out. Pathum Nissanka played a steady innings of 44 runs to steer clear of the early jolts.

The innings was lit up by Sameer Rizvi, who played a scintillating 90 off just 51 balls which included 7 boundaries and 7 massive sixes. The batter took a particular liking to both pace and spin and ensured the scoreboard kept ticking at an incredible rate.

Rizvi dominated against the pace bowlers scoring 63 off 33 deliveries at a strike rate of over 190. He maintained good composure and scored quickly in the spin department as well.

Post his dismissal, David Miller (21) and Tristan Stubbs (3) kept their cool to complete the chase as DC scored 164/4 in 18.1 overs.
