Vikramm Bhambri Discusses His Journey in Dhurandhar

Vikramm Bhambri shares insights about his first Hindi film, Dhurandhar, and the remarkable experience of collaborating with Ranveer Singh.

What does your debut Hindi film mean to you?

Every single moment spent on set is unforgettable. It was both overwhelming and rewarding to work alongside some of the most prominent figures in Bollywood for my inaugural film.

How did you secure the role in Dhurandhar?

Like many newcomers, I went through the audition process. I auditioned in May 2024 and received the offer by October 2024, marking a significant milestone in my journey into Hindi cinema.

Can you describe your character, Shakeel Commando?

I portray Shakeel Commando, a henchman in Rehman Dakait’s gang. He is a tall, rugged character, a ‘modern nomad’ who is mostly quiet, letting his actions do the talking. Following the deaths of characters like Donga, Siyahi, and Baba Ladla in Part One, Shakeel and the remaining gang members take the spotlight in Part Two.

What was your first day on set like, especially meeting Ranveer Singh?

Initially, it was quite nerve-wracking, with my mind racing. However, when Ranveer referred to me as ‘Vikramm sir,’ I was taken aback. From that moment, he became ‘Ranveer bhai’ to me.

How would you characterize Ranveer as a co-star and individual?

He is incredibly motivating, almost like a best friend to everyone on set. His dedication to his craft, combined with his vibrant energy, positivity, and humility, makes him a true gentleman.

What valuable lessons did you learn from him?

The significance of humility and the necessity of fostering strong relationships with your team. Remaining grounded despite success is a lesson I will carry throughout my career.

Were there any amusing incidents during filming?

Absolutely! During our shoot in Leh, several of us took Diamox tablets for altitude sickness. I opted out, confident in my fitness. Ironically, my SpO2 levels dropped below 80 on the second day, and I had to use oxygen cylinders, while Rajat, whom I was concerned about, was perfectly fine and teasing me!

How would you summarize your overall experience?

It has been an unforgettable journey filled with learning, excitement, and personal growth. From my debut to working with incredible co-actors like Ranveer bhai, every moment will remain close to my heart.
