A UK clothing chain has gone into administration, with its remaining shops on the brink of closure if it does not strike a deal by the end of the month. Quiz plunged into administration in February, creating over 100 job losses after struggling on the high street for some time.

Administrators Interpath said they will review whether to keep the 40 remaining stores open if there are no buyers by the end of April, Retail Week reports. The options being considered are further store closures, job cuts, or shutting down the business entirely, a source told the outlet.

Quiz's remaining stores will stay open until the end of the month, and are all currently holding clearance sales offering 40% to 70% off original prices.

Shoppers can only return items if they are faulty, and no cash or credit card refunds are available.

Alistair McAlinden, head of Interpath in Scotland and joint administrator, said Quiz is expecting a busy Easter period as shoppers hunt for bargains.

He said: "As we head into the busy Easter trading period, there are bargains to be had in-store for shoppers, with further discounts available on all remaining stock, including some new stock lines added."

Interpath previously said Quiz "experienced challenging trading conditions", with a disappointing Christmas period being the final straw.

It said: "The directors worked tirelessly to explore options to safeguard the future of Quiz, including efforts to source funding."
