Sanju Samson is struggling with batting during the Indian Premier League 2026 season. The Chennai Super Kings batter failed to score runs during the match against Punjab Kings which took place at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.
CSK returned to their home ground after losing their opening match against Rajasthan Royals. Fans expected a strong performance from Samson who joined the team after a major trade. But things did not go as planned again.

This trade was undoubtedly the most talked-about transfer deal pre-IPL 2026. While Samson left Rajasthan Royals for Chennai Super Kings, players like Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran also made the move in the opposite direction.
The player had an impressive career at Rajasthan Royals scoring 4219 runs in 150 innings and a decent average and strike rate. Samson was the highest run-scorer of the team during his time there. So the team was looking forward to his performance due to his past record.
Now at CSK he has been given the role of opening the innings. This also led to a change in the team combination with young batter Ayush Mhatre moving down to number three.
