Chelsea have Estevao and Jamie Gittens back for their FA Cup quarter-final against Port Vale, but Reece James is not ready yet.

Liam Rosenior acknowledged that the club captain is progressing well, as is fellow defender Trevoh Chalobah. The Blues head coach also revealed that Levi Colwill is back in full training for the first time since sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury during pre-season.

James has missed Chelsea's last two matches with a hamstring injury. The Blues lost both games 3-0, the home Champions League round of 16 second leg against Paris Saint-Germain and their Premier League fixture with Everton.

Rosenior was asked about the availability of James during his pre-match press conference. Chelsea's head coach said "He's getting along really well, but not ready yet."

On whether James would be back against Manchester City when the Premier League returns next weekend, Rosenior said: "I don't know. We work day-to-day, so I don't want to give a timeline and not come through with that timeline, put pressure on those players, but they're all working really, really well at this moment."

He also provided an update on the squad as a whole. Rosenior said: "Trevoh's progressing really, really well as well.

Chalobah also missed the defeat at Hill Dickinson Stadium last time out after twisting his ankle against PSG. Rosenior said the defender would be sidelined for six weeks a fortnight ago.

He also spoke about the latest step in Colwill's knee injury recovery. Rosenior said: "Levi, it's really good to have him back in full training, but it's going to take a few more weeks; he needs to tick those boxes."

However, he is happy with the squad. Rosenior said "We've got a pretty fresh group. Estevao and Jamie Gittens are back, which is really positive going into the run-in."

Estevao returned from a month-long muscle injury just before the break by coming on as a second-half substitute on Merseyside. Brazil did not call up the 18-year-old for their friendlies against Colombia and Croatia.

However, he is now back in time for the resumption of domestic football. Gittens, meanwhile, missed the last two months with a muscle injury that forced him off against West Ham United at Stamford Bridge in late January.

After sitting out a dozen matches during February and March, the winger is now back. Gittens also missed two England under-21s European Championship qualifiers against Andorra and Moldova.
