It’s a statement weekend for women’s boxing in general and our stable in particular.
Two world title bouts featuring Caroline Dubois against Terri Harper in a domestic showdown to unify the WBC and WBO lightweight titles and super bantamweight Ellie Scotney going for all four belts as she bids to become Britain’s youngest undisputed champion, female or male.
And yes, Jake Paul is back in town, promoting Sunday’s all female cast at Olympia. Smart boy. I expect Paul will be ringside at Dereck Chisora’s heavyweight date with Deontay Wilder at the O2 Arena 24 hours prior.
Though an exciting night, it is not as significant historically. Wilder and Chisora are way past their best, and whatever happens, it won’t go the distance.
Neither will Sunday’s grudge match between Dubois and Harper. I have a lot of respect for Harper. She is a great ambassador for her sport and deserves a big night under lights, but I don’t see a happy ending for her.

She loves to fight but is not elusive. She might be ahead early but at some point Dubois will find her, put her down then knock her out. She has just too much power.
Scotney, already holder of the WBC, IBF and WBO titles, so deserves her shot at history. She was an elite amateur but always wanted to turn over rather than pursue the Olympic route.
It was her bad luck that she made the move in 2020 just as covid struck. She did a variety of jobs to keep the money coming in but once we got the green light we knew very quickly she was top drawer.
Though she does not hit like Dubois, her combinations are incredible. She has a brilliant fighting brain. It’s like she has a radar in her gloves.
She is always thinking, working out where the punches are coming from and where to land. She is also brave as hell and tough as teak.
But making 122 pounds is not easy for anyone. So this contest against Mexico’s WBA champ Mayelli Flores could be her last engagement at the weight.
The significance of this card cannot be overstated. It is the first boxing event at the venue since Olympia’s £1.3bn redevelopment, and the first at the site in more than a decade, and not a male on the card.
This is some commitment from Paul and his MVP organisation, and nothing more than female fighters deserve.
