Norbert Eberhardt, 65, was initially quoted around €25,000 (US$29.000) for dental implants in Germany. He later explored treatment options abroad, including approximately 15 clinics in Turkey, but said these did not meet his expectations in terms of consultation quality and treatment approach.

After comparing factors such as professional credentials, technology, pricing transparency, and patient feedback, he chose Dr. Care Implant Clinic in Ho Chi Minh City.

Dental implant treatment is commonly used to address tooth loss, which can affect nutrition, speech, and overall quality of life. In several European countries, the cost of full-arch implant restoration can range from 23.000 USD to 34.500 USD, often accompanied by extended waiting times.

The search for more accessible treatment options has contributed to the growth of dental tourism, with destinations such as Turkey attracting international patients.

However, differences in service models, including high patient volumes, may affect consultation time and individualized care.

At Dr. Care Implant Clinic, a provider of dental implants in Ho Chi Minh CityEberhardt underwent treatment at a cost of approximately US$12.000. He noted that the clinic provided itemized pricing, which allowed for clearer cost transparency compared to some other providers.

The clinic, led by Dr. Doan Vu, Medical Director and President of the Ho Chi Minh City Chapter of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) Club, specializes in dental implant procedures and reports having completed more than 4,000 cases since its establishment in 2018. Its medical team includes doctors focusing on implantology, with experience ranging from 7 to 13 years.

The facility is equipped with digital technologies such as Cone Beam 3D CT imaging, intraoral scanning systems, and computer-guided surgical navigation. These tools support treatment planning and implant placement.

According to the clinic, procedures are digitally planned in advance, with implant positions mapped in three dimensions prior to surgery. CAD/CAM systems are also used for on-site prosthetic fabrication.

Before treatment, Eberhardt relied on dental bridges and a limited number of natural teeth, which affected daily activities. After the procedure, he reported improvements in functionality and comfort.

He said he spent approximately five months researching options before making a decision, focusing on clinical expertise, transparency, and treatment approach.

Vietnam has emerged as a destination for medical and dental tourism, attracting international patients seeking cost-effective care. The country recorded nearly 13 million international visitors last year, with some combining travel with healthcare services.

Clinics such as Dr. Care have treated patients from countries including Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, and the U.K., who consider not only cost but also service quality, transparency, and clinical expertise when seeking treatment abroad.
