Uncertainty over Bihar’s political leadership has intensified, with reports suggesting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may step down within days. While the timeline for a new government is taking shape, there is no clarity yet on who will be the next Chief Minister.

According to reports, Nitish Kumar is set to leave for Delhi on April 9. He will be sworn in as a Rajya Sabha member on April 10 and is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 11 to discuss the formation of a new government in Bihar.

He is likely to return to Patna on the evening of April 11 or April 12.

NDA Meeting Likely On April 13

Sources indicate that an NDA meeting may be held in Patna on April 13 to deliberate on government formation. Nitish Kumar is expected to resign as Chief Minister after the end of Kharmas on April 14.

Following this, an NDA Legislature meeting will be convened to elect a leader. A new government in Bihar is expected to take shape around April 18.

Focus On Governance Continues

Amid the political developments, Nitish Kumar has continued to review ongoing projects in the state. On Thursday (April 2, 2026), he inspected multiple development works across the city.

He visited Park No. 113 in Pataliputra Colony to assess facilities including recreational spaces, a gym, and children’s play areas.

He also stopped at Patali Path to review construction work connecting Nehru Path with Patali Path. Near Rupaspur Canal, he reviewed the proposed four-lane widening and strengthening of the road linking Khagaul Nehru Path to Ashok Rajpath.

At Saguna Mor, he examined plans for road widening along with underground drains on both sides of Nehru Path from Rupaspur Canal to Saguna Mor.
