Delhi Capitals (DC) win by 6 wickets against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 5 of IPL 2026 at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. Chasing 142, DC scored 145 for 4 in 17.1 overs to comfortably win the game.
It was a stuttering chase from DC initially, but Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs anchored the innings and brought the team home with their impressive partnership. It's a fantastic start to the campaign for DC, and worries will abound for LSG after a dismal batting performance.
LSG Register Low Total After Batting Collapse
LSG posted a total of 141 before being bowled out in 18.4 overs and that turned out to be below par on this pitch. The innings never got going and wickets kept falling at regular intervals.
Mitchell Marsh (35 off 28) and Abdul Samad (36 off 25) were the only batters who applied themselves. Captain Rishabh Pant managed just 7 while some other big names like Nicholas Pooran (8) and Aiden Markram (11) had forgettable outings.
LSG were 71 for 5 in 9.3 overs and had well and truly collapsed under the pressure with the lower order plugging the gaps later on.
The bowlers of DC did an exceptional job. T Natarajan and Lungi Ngidi grabbed 3 wickets each, with Kuldeep Yadav taking 2. Captain Axar Patel also picked up a wicket to complete the rout. They kept it tight throughout and did not allow LSG to form any partnership that went on for a while.

Rizvi, Stubbs Steady DC After Early Trouble
Chasing 142 for victory, DC had a poor start when they lost their captain KL Rahul for a duck off the first ball of the innings. They were quickly reduced to 30 for 4, putting them under tremendous pressure.
However, it was an outstanding knock by Sameer Rizvi, who played through the innings and finished 70 not out off 47 balls. He had exceptional support from Tristan Stubbs, who made 39 not out off 32 balls, and the pair went on to construct a match-winning partnership which guided them to victory.
Prince Yadav (2) was the pick of the LSG bowlers while Mohsin Khan picked up a wicket but his efforts alone were not enough and to add to their woes they gifted DC 20 extra runs.
In the end, DC completed the chase without any hiccups and won the game with 17 balls to spare.
Player of the Match: Sameer Rizvi (70* off 47 with 5 Fours & 4 Sixes).
