Oracle Layoffs: American IT company Oracle has fired about 30,000 employees worldwide. These layoffs have also affected India, where about 12,000 employees have lost their jobs. Apart from this, it is also being estimated that the second round of layoffs within the company may begin within a month.

Oracle currently employs about 30,000 people in India. According to the affected employees, the company informed them through email that some organizational changes are underway. That message said: “Due to these changes, a decision has been taken to streamline operations. As a result, the position you currently hold will unfortunately no longer be required.”

Oracle has offered a bonus equal to 15 days’ salary to employees in India who have completed at least one year of service. Additionally, they will receive one month unpaid salary, leave encashment, gratuity (depending on eligibility) and one month notice period, which will be calculated up to the date of termination of their employment. Additionally, Oracle is also giving two months additional salary to those employees who want to leave the company on their own will.

Most of the employees fired from America are Indian citizens.

According to news agency PTI, former Oracle employee Merugu Sridhar says that most of the Indian citizens working in America have been affected by these layoffs. The reason for this is that local labor laws in America are more strict in terms of firing American citizens.

Sridhar himself was fired from the company last September after he protested against 16-hour work shifts in India. In a report published in March 2026, Bloomberg had already estimated that Oracle was preparing to cut thousands of jobs. The company is currently focusing on expanding its AI data center infrastructure on a large scale. This is such a strategic initiative, due to which the company is facing cash shortage.

A report said that these layoffs will affect all divisions of Oracle and can be implemented by March. Earlier, TD Cowen had estimated that 20,000 to 30,000 jobs could be lost at Oracle. Oracle had approximately 162,000 full-time employees as of May 31, 2025, according to an annual filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

3,000 employees to be laid off in September 2025

In September 2025, Oracle laid off about 3,000 employees in India, the United States, Canada and the Philippines. The company offered a severance package or compensation to the affected employees, which included payment of two months’ full salary, gratuity and accrued holidays.
