Nine people developed symptoms of gastroenteritis after eating on board Disney Adventure, Disney Cruise Line’s first ship in Asia, between March 16 and 19, prompting an investigation by Singaporean authorities.

The Singapore Food Agency said March 28 that eight passengers and a crew member were affected, according to The Straits Times.

They sought medical attention and have since recovered, with none requiring hospitalization.

As of March 27 no further infections had been reported, Mothership reported.

The Disney Adventure can accommodate 6,700 guests and a crew of around 2,500, and has 20 decks and seven themed zones.

Disney Cruise set off on its maiden voyage on March 10.

Gastroenteritis, an inflammation of the stomach and intestines, is caused by pathogens such as salmonella bacteria or norovirus that can spread through contaminated food or water, poor hygiene practices or close contact with infected individuals or contaminated surfaces.
