The National Weather Service in Cleveland has announced a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for several regions in northeast Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania, which will remain in effect until 7:00 PM EDT on Tuesday. This alert encompasses various counties, including Trumbull, Portage, Geauga, eastern Cuyahoga, Lake, northeastern Summit, and Ashtabula in Ohio, as well as southwestern Erie and western Crawford counties in Pennsylvania.




As of 5:58 PM EDT, a line of intense storms was advancing eastward at approximately 45 mph, extending from Geneva-on-the-Lake through Burton to Hudson. These storms are capable of generating wind gusts reaching up to 70 mph and producing hail the size of pennies, as indicated by radar data.




Officials caution that these severe weather conditions could result in significant damage, particularly affecting trees, mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Areas that are likely to experience impacts include Warren, Painesville, Ashtabula, Conneaut, Chardon, Geneva-on-the-Lake, Solon, Hudson, Twinsburg, Streetsboro, Macedonia, Cortland, Geneva, South Russell, Madison, North Kingsville, Middlefield, Garrettsville, Kinsman, and North Bloomfield.




Residents in the warned areas are strongly advised to take immediate safety measures, such as relocating to an interior room on the lowest floor of their homes. The storm has been categorized as having a “considerable” threat level for damage, with radar showing both wind and hail risks.
