Deepfake Threat in India: In the digital era, where Artificial Intelligence is progressing rapidly, along with it a new threat has also arisen in front of the people – Deepfake. Now it is not just an issue of technology, but is directly impacting the safety and trust of common people. Meanwhile, a big update has come out from the Central Government, which has alerted every social media user.
Expressing concern over Deepfake, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that now social media platforms have increased the speed of removing such fake content by two to three times. He clearly said, “Social media companies have now intensified their action to remove such fake content by two to three times.”
Nowadays, with the help of AI, such videos, pictures and audios are being created which look absolutely real, but in reality are completely fake. This is the reason why Deepfake has now become not just a technical challenge but a serious threat to the society.
According to the IT Minister, governments and social media companies around the world are taking rapid steps to deal with this threat. The process of removing fake content has been made much faster than before. He also said that to deal with this problem, not only the government, but every person and organization will have to work together.
During this, Ashwini Vaishnav, while referring to the ongoing tension in West Asia, said that at present it has not had any major impact on the high-tech industry. The government has held talks with organizations to semiconductor, mobile and electronics sectors.
So far no company has given information about the impact on the supply chain or production. However, the government is constantly monitoring the situation as the situation can change at any time.
It is clear that the threat of Deepfake may increase in the coming time, in such a situation being alert is the biggest security.
