An underrated Jacob Elordi film, panned by critics but adored by fans, is now available on Netflix.

The Australian film legend is currently most recognised for roles in popular films such as Frankenstein and Wuthering Heights, as well as the contentious HBO hit Euphoria.

However, his most ardent fans will recall the star from young adult films like The Kissing Booth, and perhaps even this overlooked gem released in 2020.

Based on an astonishing true story, Elordi plays college student Chris Gregory, who becomes embroiled in the lives of wealthy rum heir Jorge (portrayed by Adan Canto) and his wife Leslie (Radha Mitchell).

Also featuring Tiera Skovbye (Riverdale) as Chris's girlfriend Sam, the moving and poignant drama film delves into the life-altering power of organ donation through a remarkable real-life case from the early 2010s, reports the Mirror.

Despite the inspiring story, critics loathed the film, giving it a mere 17 percent on Rotten Tomatoes with a consensus that reads: "Its picturesque setting is as agreeable as its noble intentions, but this treacly melodrama proves 2 Hearts aren't necessarily better than one."

However, fans have disregarded the dreadful reviews and awarded 2 Hearts a commendable 87 percent audience score on RT, with numerous viewers ready to defend the cinematic tearjerker.

It has just been added to Netflix this week, perfect for Elordi fans who were captivated by Heathcliff and are eagerly awaiting his return as Nate Jacobs in the third season of Euphoria.

One 10/10 IMDb review described the film as a "beautiful story!", noting: "Love this movie so much.

"While it may have not been what I expected, the overall storyline is amazing. Filled with so much emotion, this is the perfect movie to watch if you need a good cry. It's beautiful, and love that it's based off of real stories."

Another viewer concurred: "It was a beautiful story. I prefer going to movies without knowing what happens, so I was stunned with the outcome. I loved Chris' spunk. And he and Sam had such great chemistry.

"Jorge and [Leslie's] love was beautiful too. Lots of sweet times spent together telling their beautiful love stories and how they eventually connect. Reminds us that there is always good even in the bad!"

Another viewer urged: "You need to watch this. This movie is one of the best movies i've seen in a long time.

"The timeline is incredible and the way it all leads up to the end is so gut wrenching but so worth it! I've literally never cried so hard watching a movie 10/10."

While a final fan on Letterboxd confessed: "This movie completely and utterly wrecked me. I cried through the last 30 minutes of it.

"But I think it was absolutely beautiful. Yes, it may have been on the 'cheesier' side but it was based on a true story and had a wonderful message."

For Netflix subscribers seeking an emotionally powerful experience this week, 2 Hearts is virtually certain to have you grabbing the tissues.

2 Hearts is available to stream on Netflix.
