As thousands of Britons gear up to jet off abroad for their Easterand subsequent summer holidays, a YouTuber has shared his thoughts on the best economy seats to book.
Mark Wolters, host of the Wolters World YouTube channel, boasts extensive experience travelling the world. In a video on his channel, he’s discussed his top picks for flying economy.
Mark clarified that the video centred on the optimal economy seats for five distinct requirements, including the overall best choice, according to the Express.
The first scenario Mark tackled was the best seats for tall passengers. He suggested that the exit row seats offered the most legroom. He elaborated, "Those exit rows are the best for legroom because the extra row needs to be wider for exits, so it's kind of like business class legroom for economy prices."
The second scenario Mark addressed was the best economy seats for sleeping. These, he stated, were window seats that weren’t close to the toilet or the galley.
On these, he commented, "In general the best place...is actually a window seat that is not near the galley or the lavatory because the galley, they're working, you've got the smells, the cooking and the lights are there. And the lavatory because people are using it and it can be smelly."
The third situation Mark handled was when you have a tight connection—a brief interval between two connecting flights at an airport where it’s vital to move quickly from one flight to the next.
Mark stated that the optimal location in this scenario was an aisle seat towards the front of economy, "Because then you're the first one up; you can grab your stuff and go."
He added, "As long as you're in front of the wings, that's going to be your best place to get out quicker."
For comfort, Mark recommended seats near the bulkhead of the aircraft. He explained, "The bulkhead seats have a lot more legroom there, so it's kind of like that exit row, but there's nobody in front of you, you don't have the weird door next to you, and you have that little bit of extra space."
The fifth and final scenario Mark addressed was for those who dislike turbulenceand wish to reduce how much of the rough air they experience when the aircraft encounters it.
He said, "If you want to avoid the turbulence, you want to come more forward in the plane, a bit more stable, maybe over or in front of the wing; as far forward as you can get, that's going to be the best in economy."
Regarding the ultimate seat in economy overall, Mark mentioned at the start of the video that it was one where nobody is sitting beside you.
He said, "If you can get a seat that doesn't have anybody next to you, that would be the best seat in economy no matter where you are."
