Consumer Commission gave its decision, the customer started facing problems after purchasing the scooter.
Mumbai Thane Consumer Commission has directed Ola Electric Technologies to replace the defective electric scooter or refund the entire money to the customer. The Commission said that this is a case of serious lapse on the part of the company. The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission said that after looking into the matter, it was found that the scooter was not in good condition and had many defects.
The Commission said that it was very important to correct the problems by providing proper service to the complainant. The Commission said that not giving necessary information regarding service and not removing the fault from the vehicle is a matter of lapse. The complainant, an advocate from Navi Mumbai, had purchased an Ola electric scooter for Rs 96,997 in July 2024.
According to the complainant, just two days after delivery, the vehicle developed problems in acceleration and stalled several times in moving traffic. He told that on August 29, 2024, the battery level dropped from 21 percent to three percent just within 500 meters. When the matter was not resolved even after talking several times, the advocate appealed to the Commission against the company for deficiencies in service.
The Commission said that the battery draining quickly and other problems encountered by the vehicle in its first use show that the vehicle was defective from the beginning. The Commission has directed Ola Electric to provide the customer with another vehicle with the same features. If this is not done, the company will have to refund the entire price of Rs 96,997 with six percent annual interest.
