Locals in a seaside town might want to brace themselves for even more visitors this year, after their beautiful beachmade TripAdvisor's 'best of the best' in the world list for 2026.

It came close to topping it too, finishing in a very impressive third place, thanks, in no small part, to its utterly majestic backdrop. Now, when it comes to beaches in the region, while Roker & Seaburn have been compared to LA and Tynemouth has been likened to Bondi Beach in Australia, for many people, both locals and visitors to the area, there is one that will always rule the roost for the North East and that beach is Bamburgh, one of the jewels in the crown of the place named the UK's 'best seaside' town for five years in a row, despite the fact that its very much a village. Frequented by stars including A-lister Harrison Ford and Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts in the last few years, the beach has long been regarded as one of the best places to go for stunning scenery, a great day out, get some seaair in your lungs and to blow the cobwebs away, whatever the weather.

Even when it's been bitterly cold of late, people have still been going for walks along its famous sands and taking in the 'unrivalled' and totally majestic views of Bamburgh Castle in the background, the very place Hollywood actor Harrison filmed an Indiana Jones movie in 2021.

And while in last year's rankings, Bamburgh was actually behind Roker & Seaburn as the best beaches in the UK.

It is now flying the flag for the UK as the only representative from British soil on TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice Awards best-of-the-best list for one-of-a-kind beaches.

Bamburgh finishes behind only Boulders Beach in South Africa and Isola Bella in Sicily in the list, which champions the beaches with the most unique settings, as Bamburgh is singled out, quite rightly, for the stunning Medieval backdrop it's blessed with.

Championing its inclusion so high up in the One of a Kind list, Trip Advisor write: 'Framed by the iconic silhouette of Bamburgh Castle, this beach boasts miles of soft white sand, and a dramatic coastal backdrop.

'The dogfriendly stretch is close to the charming Bamburgh village, making it a standout choice for unforgettable family escapes and romantic coastal breaks.'
