New Delhi: A few days ago, unseasonal rains disrupted normal life across various parts of the country. Farmers’ standing Rabi crops, which were ripe for harvest, suffered damage due to the rain and hailstorms. Once again, with the activation of a Western Disturbance, weather conditions across the nation are set to deteriorate significantly.


There remains a strong possibility of severe weather deterioration across North India and the Northeastern states. In Western Uttar Pradesh, the skies have been overcast since the early hours of Saturday morning. Temperatures are being recorded at lower levels due to snowfall in the upper reaches of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Kashmir. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across several states of the country.



Rain Warning for Rajasthan


According to the Meteorological Department, the influence of the new Western Disturbance is expected to persist until March 30. Its increased activity is projected to cause a significant deterioration in weather conditions across Rajasthan. The IMD has issued an alert for thunderstorms and rain in the afternoon of March 28 for the Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Shekhawati regions. On March 29 and 30, light to moderate rainfall is likely in several areas within the Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Udaipur, and Kota divisions. Winds gusting up to 50 kilometers per hour are also expected in these areas.



Rain Alert for Bihar


According to the India Meteorological Department, warnings for thunderstorms, rain, and lightning strikes have been issued for a total of 38 districts across the state. An ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued for 12 of these districts, while a ‘Yellow Alert’ remains in effect for the remaining 26 districts. Residents have also been advised to remain vigilant during the adverse weather conditions.


Rain in Delhi and Noida


According to the Meteorological Department, there is a likelihood of rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Delhi and Noida today. The department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for all areas, with the exception of North-West, North, and North-East Delhi.


Weather Conditions in These Districts of Madhya Pradesh


According to the Meteorological Department, weather conditions in Madhya Pradesh are likely to deteriorate due to the increased activity of the Western Disturbance. Due to the influence of a Western Disturbance and a cyclonic system, an alert for storms and rainfall has been issued for seven districts—including Gwalior—namely Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, and Panna. Strong winds, blowing at speeds of 40–50 km/h, are expected in these regions.


Rain Expected in Chhattisgarh as Well


The Meteorological Department has indicated a likelihood of relief from the intense afternoon heat in Chhattisgarh. Influenced by a trough extending from West Bengal to Odisha, rainfall is expected today in the central and southern parts of the state. Additionally, winds are likely to blow at speeds of 30–40 km/h. Partly cloudy skies are forecast for Raipur. Over the past 24 hours, Rajnandgaon recorded the highest temperature at 40°C, while Ambikapur recorded the lowest at 16.9°C.


Weather Conditions to Deteriorate in UP


The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for 38 districts across Uttar Pradesh. According to the IMD, there is a strong possibility of a change in weather patterns due to the impact of a Western Disturbance. An alert has been issued indicating that the stormy and rainy conditions, which began last week, are likely to persist until the end of March. The region is expected to experience rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning; Furthermore, an alert has been issued regarding the possibility of hailstorms in certain areas. Stormy and turbulent weather conditions may continue to prevail.


Heavy Rainfall in These States


According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, and Sikkim on March 28. In Bihar, the risk of hailstorms accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms may increase in some areas.
