According to the airline, A320 aircraft will be used for these flights, which will provide passengers a comfortable and convenient travel experience. This new connectivity will help in strengthening trade, tourism and cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka.
The historical, cultural and economic relations between India and Sri Lanka have been strong for a long time. In such a situation, this new service will ease the movement of people between the two countries and will also boost economic activities.
IndiGo will already operate a total of more than 55 weekly flights to Colombo from five cities in India (Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and now Delhi). Apart from this, the airline is also operating 10 flights every week to Jaffna from Chennai and Tiruchirappalli. Due to this, Indigo’s hold in Sri Lanka is becoming stronger.
Passengers can plan their journey and book tickets through IndiGo’s official website, mobile app or through authorized travel partners. Plus, they can book their meals, including beverages, in advance.
Additionally, passengers can choose from ‘Upfront’ and ‘Flexi’ options as per their choice, which offer better seats, free snacks and easy cancellation.
The schedule of new flights has also been released. Delhi to Colombo flight (6E 1169) will depart at 6:40 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and reach Colombo at 10:20 pm. At the same time, the flight (6E 1170) coming from Colombo to Delhi will depart at 11:20 pm on the same days and will reach Delhi at 2:55 am the next day.
