Renuka Shahane is one of those artists, whose identity is associated with the character of Pooja played in ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’. Beginning and TV career

Renuka Shahane, born on 27 March 1965 in Mumbai, belongs to a Marathi family. His father was an officer in the Indian Navy and mother Shanta Gokhale was associated with theater and films. The separation of his parents in his childhood was challenging for him, but he completed his studies and did graduation and post graduation in Psychology.

Renuka started her career with the Marathi film ‘Hach Sunbaicha Bhau’. After this he entered the world of TV and worked in Doordarshan’s popular show ‘Surbhi’. At that time there were less channels on TV, so his face became recognized in every household.

‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ changed its fate

In the year 1994, she got the role of Pooja in Sooraj Barjatya’s film ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’. Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit were in the lead roles. Pooja’s simplicity and image of the ideal daughter-in-law won the hearts of the audience. The death scene of his character in the film was so emotional that even today people remember it.

After this film, many film and TV offers started coming to Renuka. Along with Hindi, he also showed his talent in films of Marathi and other languages. She received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Marathi) for the Marathi film ‘Aboli’.

Renuka married actor Ashutosh Rana on 25 May 2001. Both of them met during the shooting of a film of director Hansal Mehta. After marriage they had two sons, Shauryaman and Satyendra.
