An engineer admitted to the de-addiction center in Alipur, Delhi, stabbed a young man to death after he abused him. The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Arun Kumar, resident of Burari. Due to drug addiction, he was admitted to the de-addiction center. Police have arrested the accused, 27-year-old Arun Joshi, resident of Trinagar, from the spot. Police have recovered the knife from his possession.
Outer North District Police Deputy Commissioner Hareshwar V. Swami said that late on Thursday night, Alipore police station received information about a stabbing inside a drug de-addiction center named Kirandeep Foundation in Kashmiri Colony located in Hiranki village. As soon as the information was received, the police team immediately reached the spot. Blood was found scattered in the premises. Investigation revealed that the injured youth had already been taken to Burari Hospital. The police team reached the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The deceased was identified as Arun Kumar, resident of Satya Vihar, Burari. His father Monu is a rickshaw puller. Family members told that he was addicted to drugs since adolescence, due to which he was admitted to a de-addiction center. The police registered a case of murder and started investigation and arrested the accused Arun Joshi present at the centre.
During interrogation, the accused told that there was a fight between the two a few days ago, in which the deceased abused him. To take revenge, he committed the crime. Investigation revealed that the accused lives with his family in Trinagar, Keshav Puram. He studied chemical engineering from Guru Nanak Dev Institute of Technology, Rohini in 2019. His father Mahesh Joshi runs a rented medical shop near the house. The accused told that he had become addicted to ganja and cannabis since 2015. About nine months ago the family had admitted him to this center for treatment. At present about 27 people are admitted in the centre.
