Amid the massive success of Dhurandhar 2, director Aditya Dhar has strongly reacted to a controversy involving an AI-generated image of Ranveer Singh. The viral visual allegedly showed the actor, in character, smoking while wearing a turban, sparking outrage and hurting sentiments within the Sikh community.

The controversy escalated after a Mumbai-based Sikh organisation filed a complaint, claiming the image was disrespectful. Responding to the situation, Dhar issued an official statement, clarifying that the image is not part of the film and has been digitally manipulated using artificial intelligence.

He stated, “One such fabricated image falsely depicts the character Hamza/Jaskirat smoking while wearing a turban. This is completely untrue and does not form part of the film or any official material released by us.”

Calling the act deliberate, Dhar added, “It is a deliberate act of misrepresentation intended to provoke and create mischief.”

The filmmaker emphasised that the makers hold deep respect for the Sikh community and have been mindful of cultural sensitivities while creating the film. He urged audiences not to fall for misleading content circulating online and to rely only on official material released by the team.

Dhar also warned that strict action would be taken against those responsible for spreading such fabricated visuals. He described the viral image as “false and misleading,” reiterating that it does not reflect any scene or narrative from the film.

The incident highlights the growing misuse of AI in spreading misinformation, especially in the entertainment industry, where manipulated visuals can quickly trigger controversy. Meanwhile, Dhurandhar 2 continues its strong run at the box office despite the ongoing debate.
