Patna: The saying 'Eat or drank nothing, broke the glass twelve annas' fitted perfectly on IRCTC. Because of one curd, huge fine has been imposed on IRCTC and catering company. Serving bad food in Vande Bharat Express has proved costly for the catering company and IRCTC. Railways has imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on IRCTC in this case. Not only this, a huge fine of Rs 50 lakh has been imposed on the catering company supplying food in the train and its contract has also been cancelled.

This case pertains to Patna-Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express. On March 15, 2026, a passenger complained that the curd served to him for dinner had insects in it. The video of this incident went viral on social media, after which people raised questions on the service of the Railways. After the matter gained momentum, the Railway Ministry has taken this strict action.
