The cities of Kolhapur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have been included in the new schedule of Navi Mumbai Airport. Information about this was given in the Legislative Council. Although it is admitted that the airport currently lacks some facilities, steps are being taken to address them. Industries Minister Uday Samant has assured that an extended meeting will be held in the airport area under the chairmanship of Legislative Council Speaker Ram Shinde. In this meeting, passenger facilities, technical matters, flight schedule, security arrangements and other necessary facilities will be discussed in detail.

Both Western Maharashtra and Marathwada will benefit greatly after the start of this airline service. A large number of professionals, students and working class from Kolhapur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar are settled in Mumbai. Till now they had to travel long and time consuming to reach their native village. But now with air service, this journey will become easier, faster and more comfortable.

At present, roads are mainly used to reach Kolhapur or Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar from Mumbai. However, due to road maintenance, increased traffic during festivals, and other reasons, one often faces massive traffic jams. So it takes about 8 to 10 hours to complete this journey.
