New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh government honoured Indian cricketer Rinku Singh with Rs 3 crore cash reward and a government job for his role in India’s T20 World Cup 2026 triumph and his Asian Games gold. After Rinku was named the vice-captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the UP government announced the honour.


Rinku has been offered a Sports Officer job, being appointed as a Regional Sports Officer (RSO) by the Uttar Pradesh government plus the cash reward. Rinku, who missed the event and could not attend it personally, shared a heartfelt video on social media thanking UP CM Yogi Adityanath for the big distinction.


Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath handed over the appointment letter at a ceremony in Lok Bhavan, rewarding Rinku for his role in T20 World Cup triumph and his Asian Games gold. He responded with a heartening video.

The left-handed batter and athletic fielder was retained by the KKR franchise for a massive price for Rs 13 crore for IPL 2026 and as far as his earning from the government job is concerned, Rinku will take home a basic pay of between Rs 56,100 to 65,000 per month as per the 7th Pay Commission. Including the DA and HRA, the Indian cricketer will take home a salary of Rs 70000 to 80000.


Rinku rose to fame back in 2023 when he smashed Gujarat Titans bowler Yash Dayal for five consecutive sixes in the final over to seal a thrilling win for Kolkata Knight Riders. Since then, he has not looked back. Recently during the T20 World Cup, Rinku lost his father and after attending the last rites, he was back to his job in the Indian cricket team for which he received massive praise. He will be next seen in the IPL.
