Lucknow. Taking forward the vision of inclusive development of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has implemented many big schemes for the poor, deprived and weaker sections in the last 9 years. The objective of these schemes is to make people economically and socially strong.
Among these, 'Mission Zero Poverty' is an important scheme, through which the state government has succeeded in bringing out about 6 crore people from multidimensional poverty. Besides, many concrete steps have also been taken for the development of women, elderly, disabled, transgender and minority communities.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched “Mission Zero Poverty” from 2 October 2024 (Gandhi Jayanti). Under this scheme, poor families are being identified in every Gram Panchayat and their needs are being met. Till now, 13.57 lakh families have been identified in the state, who are getting the benefits of 17 government schemes. The government aims to connect these families with such employment that can provide them a sustainable income of at least ₹ 1.25 lakh every year.
Yogi government has made a big increase in pension schemes to strengthen social security.
At present 67.50 lakh elderly people, 26.81 lakh destitute women and 11.57 lakh disabled people are taking benefit of pension. The pension of leprosy patients has also been increased from ₹2500 to ₹3000 per month.
Providing houses and food to the poor has been the priority of the government.
Antyodaya cardholders also get 1 kg sugar every month. Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, 1.86 crore families are being given free gas connections and 2 free cylinders on Holi-Diwali.
Many schemes are also being run for the development of women:
Under the Rural Livelihood Mission, 1.06 crore women have been linked to 9.43 lakh self-help groups.
Under the Lakhpati Mahila Yojana, 35 lakh women were identified, out of which 18.55 lakh women have become lakhpati.
Women have been allowed to work in night shifts. Female labor participation has increased from 13% in 2017 to 36%.
Many important steps have been taken for the disabled:
Mamta School has been built in Lucknow and a special school has been built in Azamgarh. 4% reservation has also been given in government jobs and 5% in education.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram for the minority community has been implemented in the entire state. Emphasis is being laid on facilities like education, health, employment and drinking water. Insurance, guidebooks and flight facilities are provided to Haj pilgrims. Lakhs of people went on Hajj from 2017 to 2025 and 17,200 applications have been received for 2026.
In the last 9 years, Yogi government has implemented many schemes for the poor, women, disabled, minorities and deprived sections. Important steps have been taken towards making the state economically and socially strong by focusing on education, health, employment and social security.
