New Zealand has given a first-time call-up to fast-bowler Kayley Knight for their squad ahead of the ODI series against South Africa. Knight made her T20I debut for the White Ferns during the series against Zimbabwe, which they swept 3-0. In the two matches she played, she took two wickets.
She joins the squad after impressing in the domestic circuit, where she claimed 10 wickets for Northern Districts over nine innings. A member of New Zealand’s 2023 U-19 World Cup team, Knight has also shone in the 50-over format, taking 17 wickets in 11 matches as Northern Districts clinched the 2025/26 Hallyburton Johnstone Shield.
New Zealand Women’s coach Ben Sawyer shared his excitement about Knight’s selection, commending her strong performances in domestic cricket.
In other news, Suzie Bates, Flora Devonshire, and Georgia Plimmer are making their return from injuries, stepping in for Emma McLeod, Polly Inglis, and Bella James. Knight is replacing Molly Penfold in the squad.

The White Ferns currently lead the ongoing T20I series against South Africa 3-1, with the final match set for March 25. The ODI series kicks off on March 29.
