There’s a health alert on ground beef sold in six states and regions, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The alert is due to a foreign matter contamination.

The product affected is 16-ounce packages of White Oak Pastures, Radically Traditional Farming, Grassfed Ground Beef. The ground beef bears establishment number “EST 34729,” a sell-by date of “3/19/26” and code “105761” on its plastic, vacuum-sealed packaging. The impacted meat was distributed and sold at Mom’s Organic Markets retail locations in the following locations: Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

This public health alert was announced after two consumer complaints report finding metal fragments in the ground beef. There are no injuries or illnesses in connection to this contamination, but contact a healthcare provider if you are experiencing any health problems after eating the impacted product.

While there is no official recall due the product no longer being on grocery shelves, the contaminated ground beef may still be in consumers’ freezers. Check your freezer, and if you have the affected product on hand, dispose of it or return to your place of purchase for a potential refund. For questions about this alert, contact Justin Wiley, processing operations manager at White Oak Pastures, by calling (229) 641-2081 or emailing feedback@whiteoakpastures.com.
