New Delhi: Ahead of the commencement of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Uttar Pradesh government has bestowed a significant gift upon the Indian cricket team’s explosive batsman. Although his father passed away during this period, Rinku Singh did not waver in his commitment; he stood firm and remained with Team India.
The initiative undertaken by the UP government to honor Rinku Singh is part of a broader policy through which the administration consistently felicitates athletes who have delivered outstanding performances. The UP government had also previously announced a substantial incentive package for athletes. Under this policy, the state government honors athletes by offering them government jobs in addition to presenting them with cash awards.
Apart from Rinku Singh, These Athletes Will Also Be Honored

In addition to Rinku Singh, hockey player Rajkumar Pal is set to be appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored these athletes at a special ceremony organized at the Lok Bhawan. During this ceremony, the government will present cash awards totaling ₹1.64 crore to 14 athletes. These awards will be conferred under the ‘Laxman Award’ and ‘Rani Lakshmibai Award’ schemes. Furthermore, financial assistance amounting to ₹8.75 lakh will be provided through the ‘Eklavya Sports Fund.
