Amazon has had several logos throughout the years, but the current one has stayed relatively the same since January 2000. But some are only just noticing two clever details incorporated into the icon.
The modern logo consists of the Amazonname written in lowercase black letters on a black background, as a slightly angled arrow hangs from underneath the text. While it sounds simple, it's a logo that many will easily recognise as the e-commerce and streaming company, which operates in more than 25 countries across the world. But is it really as simple as it looks?
Many shoppers claim to have found hidden Easter eggs - meaning a disguised meaning or message that might not be noticeable at first glance - within the logo, but there are two specific details that many claim have a deeper meaning.
The first is that the yellow arrow underneath the logo looks like a smile. According to experts, this is meant to reflect a smiling customer who has used Amazon. But it's also intended as a way to help the customer to trust the company.
However, the second detail might be less noticeable, as one user took to Reddit's'Today I Learned' forum to share the detail with other users.
Sharing a photo of the Amazon logo in question, they went on to share their revelation.
"TIL The arrow in Amazon's logo means they have everything from A to Z," they wrote, referring to the angled arrow under the brand name, which starts at the letter A and point to the letter Z in the name.
Some people have theorised that this arrow represents that the company sells everything from A to Z, while simultaneously forming a smile to represent customer satisfaction.
Launched in 2000, it symbolises a reliable, customer-centric, and comprehensive shopping experience.
The comments section soon filled with other people wondering if the user had learned this from a recent episode of US quiz show Jeopardy, in which the contestants were asked about the meaning of the arrow in the logo.
Others went on to share their own theories.
"I always thought it was a smile. Like a little smirk," one user said, to which another replied: "It's both. Therefore, it's clever."
"Pretty clever, much like the arrow in the FedEx logo," someone else said, refering to the right-pointing arrow hidden in the negative space between the capital "E" and lowercase "x" in the logo, representing speed, precision, and forward direction.
These are far from the only brand logos that have hidden meanings or details, as even the sporting giant Adidas have hidden meanings in each of their different logos.
