The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is in the spotlight as director Amzad Hossain has stepped down in protest after being ousted from his role as chairman of the BCB media committee.

Amzad's resignation came right after the board announced on March 22 that Md Mokhsedul Kamal would take over as the new chairman of the BCB Media & Communications Committee.

"Mr Kamal, who previously served as the Vice Chairman of the committee, succeeds Amzad Hussain, who had been carrying out the responsibility since October 2025," BCB said in a statement.

"I am not sure why I was withdrawn from my post (as BCB media committee chairman) and what my shortcomings are as they only said they have decided to replace me and later decided to resign from the board. You can say my resignation is my protest," said Amzad as quoted by Cricbuzz.

While he didn’t directly criticize the contentious BCB election, Amzad did voice his worries about participation. He mentioned that he’s been out of the country for about ten days and is not up to speed on recent events, including the BCB's warning to the National Sports Council regarding the formation of an investigation committee looking into election irregularities.

Amzad Hossain is now the second director to resign from the current BCB board, following Ishtiaque Sadeque, who left earlier for personal reasons.

In other news, the BCB has appointed former national captain Habibul Bashar to lead a newly formed four-member selection panel. This panel will be in place until the Bangladesh squad is finalized for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, which is set to take place in Africa in October-November 2027. Bashar will head this revamped panel, which has been expanded from three to four members, as confirmed by the BCB

Amzad Hossain's resignation underscores the rising tensions within the Bangladesh Cricket Board, especially regarding leadership changes and committee appointments. With several directors resigning and structural changes happening, there are clear concerns about governance and transparency. As the BCB looks ahead with new appointments and prepares for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, it will be essential to maintain stability, accountability, and trust within the board for it to function effectively.
