On the auspicious occasion of martyrdom day of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, a grand tribute meeting was organized under the aegis of ‘Son Chetna Social Organization’ at the local Gandhi Maidan on Monday. Organizer of the program, Abhishek Agrahari, while offering flowers to the pictures of immortal martyrs, expressed deep concern over the current dilapidated condition of Obra Nagar.

Addressing the gathering, Abhishek Agrahari made a sharp attack that today the land of sacrifice of the revolutionaries who had dreamed of an exploitation-free and just India, Obra has become the center of administrative oppression and neglect of the public. There are a lot of problems in the city, education of poor children is being taken away by privatizing Obra Inter College, Obra Hospital itself is on ventilator and despite having qualifications in local projects, local youth are being sidelined for employment. The most frightening situation is that of the labor class, where laborers are being made to work hard for 12-12 hours, but they are not getting paid even for just 8 hours. CSR funds are being misused.

Abhishek Agrahari said in clear words that the main reason for the poor condition of Obra is the mutual disunity and lack of unity among the local people, taking direct advantage of which the administrative officers and contractors are exploiting the common man. Unless the citizens of Obara rise above their caste and personal interests and come together on one platform, the hope of justice is futile. Lack of transparency in contract allocation and not getting justice even after raising voice against payment irregularities is shameful for democracy.

Mainly aware citizens including Vikas Pathak, Surya Patel, Sanjay Gautam, Siddhant Patel, Babulal Sonkar were present in the program. Everyone resolved in one voice that true tribute to the martyrs will be paid only when the people of Obra get organized and raise the trumpet of common struggle for their constitutional rights, transparent administration and corruption-free energy city.
