Along the east coast of England lies a pretty village that's quickly captured the hearts of its visitors. The fishing village has been called a "picture postcard" with around a mile of secluded bays and a gorgeous beach. Located nine miles north of Whitby, Runswick Bay is a must-visit spot for its picturesque setting and lack of crowds.

In the village, properties sit along its cliffs, creating a unique and enclosed feel for visitors. Unsurprisingly, the village has been called a "bucket list hidden gem" by Teeside Live and with summer just around the corner, it's the ideal destination to add to visit.

The village has become well-known with tourists and day-trippers, earning a reputation for being one of the best coastal towns.

One person on Tripadvisor: "We walked here from Staithes, lovely walk with amazing views. Well worth the walk! Cafe at Runswick bay was lovely, great coffee and cakes, a lovely place to sit and relax before walking back. We had our dog in tow and she was made welcome at the cafe."

If you're wondering what to do while you're in the area, finding a perfect spot to take in the views should be at the top of your list.

You can make your way up the steep coastal pathway to Kettleness, a headland that was the site of alum mining from 1727 until the late 1800s. From up there, you will enjoy unparalleled vistas of the sea and the surroundings.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can even take part in watersports activities.

There is a huge range of activities on offer from stand-up paddle-boarding to surfing or even kayaking. As the weather gets warmer, there's no better time to take a dip in Runswick Bay's waters.

Another person who visited the area on Tripadvisor penned: "We are here for Easter weekend, we visited the lovely modern cafe just on the beachfront, delicious cakes and light bites and beverages.

"Lovely staff and plenty of seats although we imagine it will get busy. Will definitely be back as it's perfectly positioned to sit and eat a slice of yummy cakes and a cuppa tea while you admire the views.

"The beach was great, so happy to see so many dogs enjoying themselves and not a poo bag in sight as mentioned previously. We found such lovely fossils so interesting."

If you're looking for a secluded spot to enjoy a break, Runswick Bay could be the place for you.
