Famed Australian director Jamie Blanks , best known for his work in ‘Long Weekend’, ‘ Silent Number ’, and ‘Valentine’, has passed away. He was 54 at the time of his passing. Over the years, he established himself in the horror industry and was known for directing major thriller projects .



The director’s family announced the news on his social media account. They posted a long and emotional note on his official account, which read: “It is with great sadness that we confirm our beloved Jamie passed away suddenly at his home in Melbourne, Australia, on Monday. His death was unexpected, despite some ill health in recent years. It comes at a time when Jamie was preparing to direct another film. He was still very active, supporting other film-makers and developing his own projects.”



All about Jamie BlanksBlanks was born and raised in Melbourne and was interested in films from an early age. After completing his early education, he pursued a degree at the Swinburne Film School. His career began with working on directing nameless short films and clips, before he landed his big break in the industry with ‘ Urban Legend .’



The film was a huge hit, following the story of a series of grisly murders across a college campus. The film also had two sequels, with the first being ‘Urban Legends: Final Cut’, which was released in 2000. The next was ‘Urban Legends: Bloody Mary’, which was released in 2005.



His next film, ‘Valentine,’ also became a huge hit. Some of his best and most popular works include ‘Crawlspace’, ‘Crush’, ‘Machete Maidens Unleashed!’, ‘Girl at the Window’, ‘The Green Door’, and ‘Silent Number.’
