New Delhi: The 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to commence on March 28 and ahead of the start, the season has been marred by injuries. Franchises have been badly hit by numerous injuries, either full or partial, which has forced them to look for replacements.
Defending champion Royal Challengers Bengaluru are set to take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in the opener but many crucial players are out of the tournament. Australia’s famed fast-bowling trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazelwood looks set to miss some games in the tournament, while Harshit Rana, Nathan Ellis and Sam Curran will miss the entire season for their respective franchises.
As many as 11 players across all 10 franchises face full injury scare or partial absence from the next edition of the cash-rich tournament.

Delhi Capitals – Mitchell Starc (workload management, partial absence)
Kolkata Knight Riders – Harshit Rana (knee injury, full tournament), Matheesha Pathirana (calf strain, partial absence)
Lucknow Super Giants – Josh Inglis (personal leave, partial absence)
Mumbai Indians – Atharva Ankolekar (knee injury, full tournament)
Punjab Kings – Lockie Ferguson (parental leave, partial absence)
Rajasthan Royals – Sam Curran (suspected groin injury, full tournament)
Royal Challengers Bengaluru – Josh Hazlewood (hamstring/Achilles injury, partial absence),
Sunrisers Hyderabad – Pat Cummins (back injury, partial absence), Jack Edwards (foot injury, full season)
Meanwhile, a partial schedule for another exciting edition of the league is already released with fixtures mentioned till April 12. The remaining fixtures are expected to be announced in the next week which will cover the entire schedule till the finale on May 31.
