SSC Exam 2026: Rumors of paper leak spread several times during the Class 10th SSC Exam 2026 by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE). Concern increased among students and parents, but the board has repeatedly dismissed these rumours. There were reports of sharing on WhatsApp especially regarding Geography subject paper, yet the Board says that there was no real leak.
Just a day before the examination, bundles of 50 question papers of Geography subject were stolen from the strong room in Sangola of Solapur district. This incident happened on 17 March 2026, while the Geography exam was on 18 March. According to reports, pictures or copies of the stolen paper were shared in a 50-member WhatsApp group just 20 minutes before the start of the exam.
The police started investigating the matter and names of some school officials came to light. The investigation also said that a minor may have played a role in this, but MSBSHSE clarified that despite the theft, the paper did not reach the students because the children were already sitting in the hall before the exam started. Therefore it cannot be considered a real paper leak.
During the SSC exam, there were also reports of papers being leaked for subjects like Mathematics, Marathi. Complaints were received about papers being shared on some Telegram channels like ‘Maharashtra State Board 2026 Paper’ or ‘MaharashtraLeakers’. An FIR was also registered in Pune, where it was claimed that the papers of Mathematics Part-1 and Part-2 were uploaded before the examination.
Board Secretary Dr. Deepak Mali said that no concrete evidence was found in the investigation that the paper had come out before the examination. In many cases the papers were uploaded after the examination was over. The board believes that some people are faking a fake leak to dupe students. Some people claimed to give the paper in exchange for Rs 600 through private messages, which was part of the fraud.
This year around 16 lakh students appeared in the SSC examination. All the students got worried due to the rumors of leak, because it causes loss to those who work hard. The board has adopted a zero tolerance policy. Due to various irregularities, 107 examination centers have been blacklisted.
Police investigation is ongoing and the board has appealed to the students not to believe the rumors spread on social media. Strict steps are being taken to keep the examination process fair.
