When to observe Gangaur Teej fast 2026?

According to the Panchang, this time the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month will start from 02:31 PM on Friday, March 20, and will continue till 11:56 PM on Saturday, March 21. Since Tritiya Tithi will last throughout the day on March 21, Gangaur Teej fast will be observed on this day.

How to do Gangaur Teej puja-vrat?

- On March 21, Saturday, wake up early in the morning, take bath etc. and take a pledge to fast and worship on Gangaur Teej.
- After this, all the fasting women gather at one place and go to the garden with a lotus on their heads.
- Put things like water, Durva, flowers etc. in these pots, put them on your head and return home singing songs.
- Come home and worship the clay idol of Lord Shiva and Parvati. Light a lamp of pure ghee.
- Garland flowers to God. Offer things like rice, abeer, gulal, roli etc. one by one.
- Offer wedding material to Goddess Parvati. After the puja, all the women sing songs of Gangaur and listen to the story.
- While dancing and singing, go to a river or pond and immerse the idols of Lord Shiva and Parvati.
In this way, by observing the fast and worship of Gangaur Teej as per the rituals, happiness, prosperity and peace remains in the house.

According to the popular story, once Mahadev and Goddess Parvati came roaming on the earth. Here Goddess Parvati started feeling thirsty. When Goddess Parvati went to the river to drink water, she saw Durva, Tesu flowers and fruits floating there.
When Goddess Parvati asked, Lord Shiva told her, 'Today is Gangaur Teej. On this day, women celebrate Gauri Utsav, so that there is happiness, prosperity and peace in their family. Hearing this, Goddess Parvati became very happy.
- Goddess Parvati said to Lord Shiva, 'I myself will bless the women who observe this fast.' After this, Goddess Parvati blessed those women to always remain fortunate.
