It's back! Victoria Beckham’s cult-favourite fragrance is making a timely return just as summer approaches — and fans are already calling it the ultimate warm-weather scent. Not only that, if you purchase the favourite fragrance online, there's a limited edition gift with purchase.

Inspired by one of the most romantic destinations on the Italian Riviera, the perfume, Portofino '97 is rooted in one of the Victoria's most personal memories. It was her first trip to Portofino with husband David Beckham, before the two were married. It's a scent that blends nostalgia, luxury and intimacy – with a distinctive note she describes as the smell of “crisp white sheets.”

To celebrate the return of the fragrance, for a limited time, there's also a gift-with-purchase if you pick up the scent through the website. On all orders over £50 (the fragrance is £170 so it automatically qualifies), you get a free '97 Limited-edition Scarf in lightweight cotton voile, adorned with Victoria’s signature chain link pattern.

Explaining the story behind the fragrance, Victoria says, “We’re telling the story of Portofino. In 1997, myself and David went to Portofino. The first time we’d ever been away together. It was so romantic. I remember how Portofino smelt – the opulence of the hotel we were staying in, the crisp white sheets.”

She continues: “It was that sense of freedom. To have that time to spend with David. I’ll never forget how that felt. This fragrance smells like our initial love story in a bottle.”

For VB, the scent is more than just a beauty product — it’s a ritual. “Portofino really holds a special place in my heart. It’s still my favourite place in the world to visit,” she says. “I spray this every night before we go out on date night. I want David to smell me before he sees me coming.”

The fragrance has struck a chord with shoppers too, quickly becoming a seasonal staple. One fan describes it as their “favourite perfume for spring-summer season,” while another simply calls it “pure class in a bottle.”

Light, clean and evocative, the scent taps into the growing demand for fresh, linen-inspired fragrances that feel effortless yet luxurious. And with its romantic backstory and loyal following, it’s easy to see why this particular perfume continues to resonate.

This isn't the only fragrance inspired by the beautiful town on the Italian Riviera. For a more affordable take on the destination, The White Company's Portofino Collection includes a candle £40, Luxury Scent Diffuser £40, Perfume Oil, £15 and an Eau de Toilette fragrance, £35, all designed to capture the feeling of the town: "Moonlight shining on calm waters. The stars are out, and the atmosphere is captivating. In Portofino, warm top notes of orange leaf are rounded with a whisper of jasmine on the night air. Combined with the richness of leather, soothing oakwood embraces this carefree weekend-away feeling," says the brand.
