No one can replace Sanju Bhaiya: Riyan Parag
Speaking at the IPL 2026 pre-season press conference, Rajasthan Royals captain Ryan Parag said that no one can replace Sanju Samson and this season the team’s focus will be on better planning and finishing the matches well. He said, “We never thought of replacing him (Sanju Samson) with anyone else. Can you replace Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli with someone else? No. In the same way, no one can replace Sanju bhaiya.”
Parag further said, “We can try a player who has the same ability or ask someone else to bat in his place, but no one can take his place. This year our emphasis is on planning better and finishing the matches well, which we were not able to do in the last season.”
Let us tell you that CSK had included Sanju Samson in its team from Rajasthan Royals through trade in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. Samson has a long experience of captaincy in Rajasthan Royals and he is in great form at the moment. He was named Player of the Tournament for his excellent performance in the T20 World Cup.

Rajasthan Royals’ new captain Riyan Parag thanked the franchise for supporting him despite “more difficulties than ups and downs”. He said, “I came here when I was just 17 years old and I have seen all the ups and downs – although so far there have been more downs than ups. I want to thank Rajasthan Royals for supporting me and understanding me as a cricketer.”
We fully support Ryan as a leader at RR: Head Coach Sangakkara
Speaking at the pre-season press conference, Rajasthan Royals head coach and director of cricket Kumar Sangakkara said, “I first met Ryan (Parag) when he was a teenager and I have always admired him as a cricketer… We had shortlisted a few players to captain the franchise. The interview process was quite tough, some very difficult questions were asked and then later we discussed them several times, after which we came to this decision. “We came to the conclusion that Ryan is the best candidate for the captaincy of the team.”
