Shivam Dube: Indian team’s star all-rounder batsman Shivam, after becoming the T20 World Cup 2026 champion, took a decision which surprised everyone. In fact, while all the players were preparing to return home by flight after playing the final from Ahmedabad, Shivam Dubey chose to travel by train. Shivam Dubey had made a lot of headlines on social media regarding his train journey.
Shivam Dubey separated from Team India just hours after becoming the T20 World Cup 2026 champion. All the players were about to go home by flight, but Dubey wanted to go home early. Therefore, he had decided to go home by train without waiting much. Now Shivam Dubey has told the reason behind going home by train. He revealed why he chose to go to Mumbai by train instead of flight.
Actually Shivam Dubey wanted to meet his family as soon as possible. He told that he was very anxious to meet his child and father soon, but flights from Ahmedabad to Mumbai were not available at that time. Therefore, without waiting, he left for Mumbai from Ahmedabad by train in the morning itself. He booked a seat in 3-tier AC with his wife and a friend and started traveling to Mumbai by 5 am train.
Shivam Dubey said, “There were no flights available, so I decided to travel by train from Ahmedabad to Mumbai early in the morning. We could have also gone by road, but the train was faster. My wife and a friend, I and I decided to go by train. Third AC tickets were available, so we decided to book them.” However, Shivam Dubey had decided to travel by train with complete planning. To hide his identity, Shivam Dubey wore a face mask, cap and full sleeve clothes.
Shivam Dubey said, “Everyone we spoke to, family and friends, were worried. What if someone recognized me at the station or inside the train? I was wearing a cap, mask and a full-sleeved T-shirt. The train was at 5:10 in the morning, so we expected there would not be many people on the platform at that time. I told my wife that I would wait in the car till 5 minutes before the train started. After that I would run to board the train.” As soon as Dubey entered the train, he climbed onto the top berth and hid himself in the railway blanket to hide his identity.
Dubey said, “When TT came to check the ticket and asked, “Shivam Dubey?” Who is that, the cricketer?” So my wife immediately said, “No, no. Where will he come from?” The ticket checker moved forward. In this way Shivam Dubey traveled the entire train without revealing his identity. However, after reaching Mumbai, he had to call the police at the station.
