New Delhi: Late Bollywood legend Rishi Kapoor was known not only for his acting but also for his professional discipline. The filmmakers who worked with him always respected his time and terms. David Dhawan shared one such incident in an interview in which one can feel the strictness and professional attitude of Rishi Kapoor.
David Dhawan told that Rishi Kapoor did not like shooting at night at all and he never worked after 7 pm. He believed in this rule so strongly that if there was a night scene in a film, he would immediately refuse to work. This he proved while listening to the story in the car with the filmmaker.
David told that once a director came to narrate the story of his film to Rishi Kapoor and started the narration of the first scene. As soon as he came to know that the scene was of night, Rishi Kapoor ordered the driver to stop the car immediately and clearly said, ‘I do not work in those films in which there is night shooting. Whatever happens, I pack up at 7 o’clock.’ After this, the director stopped taking the story forward.
Apart from this, Rishi Kapoor wanted to know the logic behind every scene. He used to ask the filmmaker why this scene was necessary and why it was being done this way. If he was not satisfied with something, he used to stop the work there. According to David Dhawan, this was the reason that he was not only an excellent actor but also a very responsible professional.
Rishi Kapoor gave hit films like ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Karz’, and ‘Chandni’ in his career and created his own identity in Bollywood for a long time, but the stories of his discipline and professional attitude also remain an inspiration for today’s generation.
Thus, Rishi Kapoor is remembered not only for his acting skills but also for his strictness, punctuality and asking questions behind every scene. He ensured that his quality and professional standards remained intact in every project.
